HANCEVILLE, Ala. – While haunted houses and frightening corn maze experiences are fairly common this time of year, few things spark more fear than the scene of a violent crime – well, a replica of one, anyway. Wallace State’s Criminal Justice academic division is offering a unique spin on gory attractions by hosting its very own “Crime Scene House” on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, with proceeds benefiting Lions’ Kitchen, an active food and toiletry pantry on campus.
Coordinated Care Specialist and head of Lions’ Kitchen Bobby Tarvin said she was thrilled to learn that Lions’ Kitchen would be the beneficiary of such a distinctive fundraiser.
“I was thrilled to learn that the Criminal Justice department wanted to hold such a unique fundraiser in honor of Lions’ Kitchen,” said Tarvin, explaining that the criminal justice club on campus, Lex Corpus, partnered with the pantry earlier in the year by way of a $400 donation.
“With 120 students actively using the pantry thus far this semester, the help is very much needed,” she smiled. “Their continued support of students facing food insecurity within our college is deeply appreciated!”
The Crime Scene House experience will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. The house is located about three minutes away from Wallace State’s campus and can be found by inserting these coordinates into any GPS or maps app: 34°04’01.1″N 86°47’32.8″W. Admission is $1.
Can’t swing by the Crime Scene House, but still want to give to Lions’ Kitchen? Physical donations can be dropped off at the Lions’ Kitchen Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monetary donations can be made through the Wallace State Future Foundation at www.wsccfuturefoundation.org/give by choosing “Lions’ Kitchen” from the drop-down menu.
