FAIRVIEW, Ala. – After enjoying a bye last week, the Fairview Aggies were back home at Dafford Smith Stadium Friday night to cap off homecoming week with a regional matchup against Ardmore. The Aggies fell behind 2-0 early in the second quarter but put 35 unanswered points on the board the rest of the way and celebrated homecoming with a 35-2 win.

Fairview lost a fumble on its opening possession but after the Tigers and Aggies exchanged punts, an interception by Cade Yeager gave the ball back to Fairview’s offense midway through the first quarter. The game remained scoreless going into the second quarter but a high snap into the end zone resulted in an Aggies safety and gave Ardmore a 2-0 lead. The Tigers were forced to punt the ball away on their ensuing possession and Fairview’s offense was ready to answer. The Aggies finished their first scoring drive of the night with a touchdown run from Barrett York and Kolt Redding’s extra point split the uprights to put Fairview in front 7-2.

It didn’t take long for the Aggies to add to their lead. Alex Garcia recovered an Ardmore fumble deep in Tigers territory and two plays later, Carson Jones ran the ball into the end zone to make it a 14-2 game. Another Ardmore fumble was recovered by the Aggies and set up Jones’ second touchdown run of the night with less than a minute remaining in the first half, allowing Fairview to go into the locker room with a 21-2 advantage at the break.

The Aggies started fast in the second half, extending their lead to 28-2 after a 35-yard touchdown run by Jake Harper early in the third. The Tigers then put together a long drive that took most of the third quarter, but Fairview’s defense ultimately forced Ardmore to turn the ball over on downs and the Aggies took over possession with less than a minute to play in the period.

Harper ripped off another big run to move the ball down inside Ardmore’s 20-yard line and three plays later, Jones punched in his third touchdown of the game to give Fairview a 35-2 lead with just over four minutes on the clock. The Aggies put in some younger players to finish the game and Braiden Brooks broke off a big run to gain the final first down Fairview needed to wrap up a 35-2 win over the Tigers.

The Aggies improve to 6-0 with the win and they’ll be on the road next week to take on Brewer.
