CULLMAN – Christian music, country and Broadway fans will be delighted to know that local artists, Eric Bennett and Paige Harbison, will be performing at this year’s second annual Caring for Cullman Concert, brought to you by the Good Samaritan Health Clinic. Save the date: Monday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Cullman High School auditorium.

Bennett, who is a member of the Triumphant Quartet, which has garnered several prestigious awards in the past few years, is happy to be on-stage in his home county. He has another reason to celebrate; he and his wife, Dana Bennett, have a new granddaughter, Sadie Madelyn Kendall, born Aug. 9, 2016. The new addition makes three granddaughters for the Bennetts. Sadie’s parents are Erin and Anthony Kendall, and her big sisters are Avery and Chloe. The Kendells are from Cullman, and now reside in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Bennett, a 1984, West Point grad said, “I’m so glad to come home to perform for Caring for Cullman, again. Of course, I will also be happy to see my mom, siblings and friends from school at the event.”

The artists will be available for a Meet and Greet, for which tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available at the outlets listed below, but are going fast, so be sure to reserve yours soon. This portion of the event is sponsored by Chick-Fil-A.

“Last year, about 400 people attended, and we anticipate an even bigger crowd this year,” said Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Health Clinic, Jolanda Hutson. “I encourage everyone to get their tickets in advance at one of the local outlets. A couple from Texas called the clinic last week wanting Meet and Greet tickets. This will be their sixth year to see Triumphant in concert.”

This year Cullman’s Paige Harbison will also perform at the event. Harbison is now one of the entertainers on stage at Dollywood. She loves working there, calling it her ‘dream’ job, “I get to sing and dance,” she laughed. She is currently at “Jukebox Junction” doing a 60s review called “Dreamland Drive-In,” and invites her Cullman family and friends to come and see her there.

“Paige Harbison is going to be a great addition to our event,” Hutson said. “Both Triumphant Quartet and Paige have quite the following.”

Harbison, who is in her second year on the Pines Stage at Dollywood, will do a program called, “Broadway Through the Years,” consisting of hit Broadway tunes from the 1920s up until today’s newest hit songs.

“I’m very excited to come back to home,” said Harbison. “Cullman gave me my start and I’m happy to give back for this worthwhile cause.”

“Regardless of your music preference, the concert promises to be an enjoyable and entertaining evening with all the proceeds going to a worthy cause of meeting the medical needs of the uninsured in our community,” Hutson continued.

Good Samaritan has been meeting the medical needs of Cullman County’s uninsured since 2004. The patient eligibility application is on the website at www.goodsamaritancullman.com.

People may go there to see criteria as well as print an application to complete and bring with them to the clinic.

“We encourage anyone who is currently without health insurance and thinks they may qualify for the clinic’s services to go ahead and complete the eligibility application so when they do need us, we will be able to see them and get them the care they need right away,” Hutson stressed.

“As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the support of our community to provide the care we provide. It is through generous donations, grants and the support from local organizations, churches and businesses in the community as well the donation of in-kind services that we are able to provide healthcare services to our patients,” Hutson explained. “We are grateful to be one of 15 United Way partner agencies and for all the support of the Cullman community which allows us to continue to meet the healthcare needs of the uninsured right here in our community.

“There continues to be a great need for healthcare services for the uninsured in our community,” continued Hutson. “According to an August 2015 study published by the ADPH Office of Primary Care and Rural Health, Cullman County ranks 12th in the state with regard to uninsured individuals under 65 years of age, with one in five Cullman County residents under 65 being uninsured.”
