CULLMAN, Ala. – Amy Carter recently announced she is seeking re-election to Place 5 on the Cullman City Board of Education.

Below is Carter’s announcement, unedited and in full.

Amy Carter is seeking re-election to the Cullman City Board of Education after proudly  serving for five years, including two as President. With a Bachelor of Science in  Education from Samford University and experience as a Clinical Oncology Specialist, Amy is deeply committed to the success and growth of our schools and community.

During her tenure, Amy has been instrumental in implementing the safety and growth  plan that prepares our schools for the future. Her leadership has fostered a strong  partnership between the Board, Superintendent, Mayor, and City Council to secure  funding and drive meaningful progress.

Some of her key accomplishments include:

  • Reducing chronic absenteeism from 14.51% in 2018 to 8.33% in 2024.
  • Investing $192,000 annually in School Resource Officers for student safety.
  • $764,000 invested in security upgrades, including cameras and door access control across all campuses.
  • Chromebook funding to ensure student devices are updated every three years with an  investment of $335,000 per cycle.
  • Expansion of STEM and CTE programs to prepare students for the future.
  • Highest State Report Card scores ever in 2024 for the system and schools.
  • National Blue-Ribbon School recognition for East Elementary in 2024.
  • Employee retention initiatives, including a revamped mentoring program and an  onboarding process to keep our talented staff.
  • Fiscal responsibility, maintaining over three months of reserves and increasing per pupil spending from $10,684 to $12,429.

Amy’s dedication to education is also reflected in the $85.72 million allocated to various  school projects, such as new facilities, turf fields, and security upgrades.

“One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is our comprehensive safety and  growth plan, which is designed to prepare our schools for the future,” said Carter. “I  have greatly valued the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Board,  Superintendent, and city leaders to turn this vision into reality, both logistically  and financially.”

Amy is proud to call Cullman home, where she lives with her husband, Matt, and their son, a student at Cullman High School.

“I respectfully ask for your support and vote in the upcoming School Board Election, so I  can continue working to ensure a bright future for our students and community.”

The municipal election will take place Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025.
