Local youth win awards at state livestock shows

Evan Roden of Cullman County received the $1,000 Randy Owen Exhibitor Scholarship. It was presented March 15 during the Jr. Livestock Expo in Montgomery, coordinated by the Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance. He received the scholarship for excellence in showing cattle and plans to attend Wallace State before transferring to Auburn University to study agricultural business and economics. Irish Keener of Cullman County exhibited the Commercial Senior Breed Champion animal in the Jr. Livestock Expo Dairy Show March 7 in Montgomery. The contest was conducted by the Alabama Farmers Federation in conjunction with the Southeastern Livestock Expo.
