CULLMAN, Ala. – After a pause to make sure he was ready, Retired U.S. Army Col. Don Fallin has reentered the campaign for the Alabama House District 11 seat vacated when former Rep. Randall Shedd, R-Fairview, moved to a position in the office of Sen. Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman.

Fallin is a Fairview native who graduated from Fairview High School before attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. After a 30-year career in the Army he came back home to the Cullman area, where he joined Cullman VFW Post 2214 and became active in local veterans’ affairs. He first announced his candidacy in early March.

“I want to start by saying thank you to our local conservative Republicans and dedicated citizens for rallying around our cause,” said Fallin. “This is a grassroots effort, truly focused on being a voice for the community, and I am humbled by the overwhelming support I have received.”

Asked about making the move from military life to politics, Fallin responded, “I believe it is a seamless transition; fighting for the citizens of Cullman and Blount County is no different than fighting for our country. The principles are the same: surround yourself with a great team, put the mission first, talk to and listen to the people in our community, and be a leader who is not afraid to make hard decisions.

“I spent over three decades serving my country, now I want to serve my district and state. I want to stand with our veterans. It is time to send a veteran to Montgomery, because I will serve our communities with the same energy and integrity that I have served my country for over three decades. Additionally, I want to be a voice to our citizens in District 11 and provide transparency of all actions in Montgomery, improve our quality of life, shrink state government, demand that we are fiscally responsible, cut taxes, protect local business and protect our Alabama values.

“The folks I have talked to want a reform candidate, someone who is willing to stand up for our rights and principles with no outside influence.”

Fallin has had volunteers going door to door around the area this week, and launched a website for those wanting more information: https://donfallin.com.
