After a cold start this morning, temperatures will warm into the 60s statewide this afternoon.  A continued warming trend will continue into Sunday.

Ahead of an approaching upper level system, winds Sunday morning will begin to increase and by afternoon sustained at 10-20 mph with gusts from 20-30 mph.  The upper level system and associated cold front will produce widespread showers and thunderstorms beginning Sunday evening in the northwestern sections and ending by Monday afternoon or early evening in the southeastern sections.

A couple of storms may produce wind gusts from 40-60 mph and hail north of a Livingston – Birmingham – Scottsboro line.  The tornado threat is very low and widespread severe weather will not occur.  As the storms reach I-59 and continue moving southeastward, they will weaken rapidly with no severe weather expected.

Total rainfall will mainly be 0.5-1.5 inch north of I-59 and 0.5 inch or less south of I-59.  No rainfall is forecast from Monday evening through at least next Thursday afternoon.
