Charles (“Charlie”) Harold Chambers Jr., 70, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at home surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on February 23, 1955, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Charles Harold and Elsie Jean Chambers.
As a graduate of Auburn University, Charlie was a devout football fan, and recently, this year, he became an earnest basketball fan (War Eagle!). This year he attended an Auburn basketball game with his sons-in-law, marking his first college basketball game in over 50 years.
Charlie met his wife of 44 years, Debbie, while working together in the space program. Charlie had a distinguished career, working many years on the shuttle program, contributing to its success before retiring to Smith Lake, where he found peace and joy.
Anyone who met Charlie would tell you that he was most proud of his girls and grandchildren. He lived life to the fullest and cherished every moment spent with his family, friends, and his beloved dogs.
Charlie had a deep love for music, especially the timeless songs of The Eagles, Allman Brothers, and Marshall Tucker Band. We will remember his legacy of ‘peaceful easy feelin’ when he was spending time outside and on the water. Though Charlie is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie; daughters Christina Wolf and Melissa Enciso; sons-in-law Daniel Wolf and James Enciso; grandchildren Bennett Wolf, Hayden Wolf, and Jack Enciso; brother David (and wife, Lynne) Chambers; as well as many loving family members including his cousin, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 3-4 p.m. at Cullman-Heritage Funeral Home where we would like to encourage friends and family to share their favorite memories of Charlie. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Cullman Regional Hospice.
