Body found identified as missing Holly Pond man Greg Mize

HOLLY POND, Ala. –  Authorities have officially identified the body recovered from the Mulberry Fork on Friday, March 14, 2025, as that of missing Holly Pond man Greg Mize, 56.

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick released the official identification on Monday, March 17.

Mize had been missing since Feb. 12, 2025, and multiple searches were conducted in the area near his residence.

Kilpatrick said Mize’s body was found in the Mulberry Fork, between County Roads 698 and 688 in the Holly Pond community.

A spokesman for the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office told The Tribune after the body was recovered, “Sheriff Matt Gentry and the entire Cullman County Sheriff’s Office would like to ask you to join us in offering up prayers and support for all the families undoubtedly affected by this tragedy.”

An official cause of death has not been determined, according to Kilpatrick, who said the body was sent for autopsy.
