Reverend Jack Wayne Still, 80, of Pleasant Grove, AL, passed away on Sunday, March 9th surrounded by family. He was born on December 20, 1944, in Tampa, FL, to James Kermit and Ivalene Tidwell Still.
Jack was raised in Cullman County and felt called into ministry as a young adult. Over the years, he and his wife, Shirley faithfully served as he pastored Mt. Joy Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cullman county, Fairfield First Baptist, and Elkton Road Baptist in Athens, Alabama. He also conducted training in Sunday School growth for the Alabama Baptist Board of Missions. He and Shirley ministered to countless people throughout his life. Jack earned his Bachelors degree in religious studies from Samford University and went on to obtain his Master’s of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Jack was a devoted husband, dad, “PaPa Jack”, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Shirley Jones Still; his brother, Ray Still; his sister, Peggy (Ernie) McClendon; and his daughter, Meleah Carlisle.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon Campbell Still, who brought him love and companionship in his later years. He is also survived by his children: Clark Still, Chris Still, Gina (Nathan) Drake, and Crystal (Buz) Boyd; his grandchildren: Jackson (Emma) Drake, Harrison Drake, and Carli Boyd; his sister, Linda (Gary) Parker; his sister-in-law, Barbara Still; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jack’s unwavering faith and dedication to his ministry touched the lives of many, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be Sunday March 16, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Cook, officiating. Interment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the International Mission Board or the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries.
