CULLMAN, Ala. – City Play and City Play – Littles, part of CityScape Family Entertainment, will officially open their doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 13, at 9 a.m. Located in Cullman, these new indoor play centers are the latest addition to the vision of owners Steve and Angie Patrick, longtime residents who moved to Cullman in 2007 seeking a family focused community to raise their children.
City Play is designed for children aged 6-12 and features a massive play structure complete with tubes, slides and various climbing elements. The center also includes a small Ninja Course, arcade games and a soft play area for families with younger siblings. Parents can enjoy a seating area with free Wi-Fi and a big-screen TV, along with a snack bar and party rooms.
For younger children aged 6 and younger, City Play – Littles introduces a “tiny town” imagination concept, with themed areas such as a Doctor’s Office, Pet Store, Diner, Boutique, Tool Shop, Market and Fire Station. The center also features a soft play area, a reading and activity section and a tiny town courtyard with a climbing structure. Additionally, parents have access to a complimentary coffee bar and free Wi-Fi while their children explore.
The Patricks’ inspiration for Cityscape stems from a desire to fill a gap in local family entertainment options in the Cullman community they now call home, “We saw a huge need in Cullman for this as there is really nothing comparable, with the closest being in Huntsville,” they explained.
With that realization, their vision took shape in 2021 with the opening of City Park Mini Golf, marking the end of Phase 1 of their plan. Phase 2 would follow with City Play and City Play-Littles.
With success in tow, the Patricks reflected on the most rewarding part of their journey, the joy in the community’s response. “Seeing the wow and the excitement on the faces of the children when they walk into our facilities for the first time and the appreciation that we receive from the parents that finally, there is something like this nearby, so they do not have to drive to Huntsville,” they shared.
For the Patricks, creating wholesome, family friendly environments where children can play safely and parents can relax has always been the goal. “We honestly just want to serve families and be a blessing to the growing Cullman community,” they added.
