Obituary: Patricia Moody Smith

Patricia Moody Smith, of Arab, Alabama, passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 71. Ms. Smith was born in Phil Campbell, Alabama, on June 26, 1953, to the late Robert and Barbara Speck Moody. 

Ms. Smith graduated from Phil Campbell High School in 1971. Patricia then worked in the cosmetology industry for over ten years. She was a Star Trek and Batman enthusiast and never missed an episode or movie. Ms. Patricia enjoyed yard sales and the treasures she found among discarded things. She loved attending her church home, Rock Springs, when she was able. One of the most important days in Patricia’s life was when she accepted Christ as her Savior. Ms. Smith spent the rest of her life serving Him to the best of her ability. Ms. Patricia had a heart for people, and she loved helping others. She adored her family, and her grandchildren brought her immense joy. 

Ms. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Randy Smith. 

Those left to cherish Ms. Smith’s memory include her children, Miranda Schreiner (Matt), Matt Box, Scott Daniel, Clint Smith (Cheyenne), Lauren Tipton (Michael); sister, Jeannie Ashe (Stan); sisters-in-law, Linda VanZandt, Melba Hutchens (Ralph); brother-in-law, Sammy Smith; and several grandchildren. 

Friends are invited to join the Smith family for a time of visitation on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, from 10 o’clock a.m., until services begin at 11 o’clock a.m. All services will be held in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel with burial following services in Rock Springs Cemetery. 

The Smith family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Diversicare of Arab for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Patricia over the seven years she was a resident there. Ms. Smith genuinely loved her caregivers and thought of them as family.
