Obituary: Charles Leon Denson

Charles Leon Denson, age 80 of Addison, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. 
 
He was born August 11, 1944 to James and Ida Mae Denson. Charlie was known for his strong-willed spirit. He was a mentor to anyone who ever worked with, or for him. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was truly a “Hero”- a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. 
 
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison. Charles will lie in state Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Addison, where the service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Addison Church of God Cemetery. Brother Terry Blankenship and Brother Junior Garmon will officiate. 
 
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Freeda Denson; son, Leon Denson and his wife Lisa; grandchildren Adam and Amber Denson; sister, Freda Pruitt and her husband Lanier; niece, Tammy Askew; nephew, Timmy Daughdrill and his wife Tiffany; sister-in-law, Brenda Allison and her husband William; brother-in-law, Edward Dunn; special friends, Rex and Paula Seymore; and numerous other great nieces and nephews. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ida Mae Denson; and brother-in-law, Elwood Dunn.
