Richard “Ricky” Louis Madaris, 67, of Holly Pond, AL, went home with the Lord on January 22, 2025, after the most heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. He passed at home surrounded by family.
Ricky was born December 27, 1957 in Birmingham, AL to Robert and Alice Vedell Madaris. He is preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Charles Madaris and a sister, Robin Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Davis Madaris of Holly Pond, two daughters, Ashley Madaris of Vinemont, AL, Alissa Madaris (Drake Jordon), of Holly Pond, two granddaughters, Lakelyn Ege and Lily Hipp. Brothers, Terry Madaris (Dena) of Riverside, AL, Scott Madaris (Tery) of Carrollton, GA. Sisters, Tammy ((Jack) Mason of Locust Fork, AL, Christine (Glen) Glaze of St. Louis, MO, and Colleen Buddenhagen of Birmingham, AL. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, along with his furry companions, Squeaky, Renton and kitties he rescued.
Ricky attended Erwin High School and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for most of his life. He was mechanically gifted and could fix anything he put his mind to. He also leaves behind a wonderful work family at both BSE Industrial Contractors and R&M Equipment Rental and also his loving and faithful church family at Desperation Church.
The family extends a special thank you to Desperation Church as well as Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for their phenomenal care given to both Ricky and the family.
Ricky enjoyed the simple things in life. Time spent with family, friends, watching football, and above all, his beloved church. His love for the Lord and spreading the word was everything to him, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of his amazing life will be held at Desperation Church, 510 5th Ave. SW, Cullman, Al on Friday January 31st, 2025. Viewing at 10am and sermon at 11 a.m. with Pastor Andy Heis and Jerry Mitchell officiating.
