WASHINGTON, D.C. – “Donald Trump, who overcame impeachments, criminal indictments and a pair of assassination attempts to win another term in the White House, was sworn in Monday as the 47th U.S. president, taking charge as Republicans claim unified control of Washington and set out to reshape the country’s institutions.

“Trump’s swearing-in was moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda — the first time that has happened in 40 years — and the inaugural parade was replaced by an event at a downtown arena. Throngs of Trump supporters who descended on the city to watch the inaugural ceremony on the West Front of the Capitol from the National Mall were left to find somewhere else to view the festivities. Some guests were invited into the Capitol Visitors (sic) Center to watch on a big screen.” (AP News)

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey issued the following statement after Monday’s inauguration:

“It is a beautiful day for the United States of America as we swear in President Trump and Vice President Vance. Beginning today, President Trump will get to work for our people, as he unleashes American energy and secures our Border. Alabama stands ready to support his mission to foster a stronger than ever America. Congratulations to President Trump and Vice President Vance. I am confident our best days are ahead!”
