Obituary: Barbara Ann Barnett Harris

Barbara Ann Barnett Harris, 84, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025. Born on July 17, 1940, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jethro Jesse and Sarah Belle Barnett. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Herman Barnett; her sisters, Bonzie Daniel (James), Mary Herndon (Wayne), Dot Duke (Escol), Joyce Gail Hatley (Don), Patsy Phillips (Jan) and Nancy Pendley (Randy); her husband, Ralph “Andy” Harris; and her children, Kimberly Harris Sapaugh and Andrew Michael Harris. 

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elna Barnett; her cherished grandchildren, April Zark (Kacy Belew) and Sarah Zaldivar (Jorge); her adored great-grandchildren, Aidan Zark, Gavin Zark, Athena Zaldivar, and Kenichi Zaldivar; and many loving nieces, nephews, and their children. 

Barbara, affectionately known as “Nanny” to her grandchildren, was a woman of immense love, light, and humor. Her passions included gardening, painting, quilting, cross-stitching, and rug hooking, finding joy in creating beauty with her hands. A lover of travel, reading, and home improvement shows, Barbara embraced life with curiosity and creativity. 

She was deeply devoted to Jesus and her faith, treasuring her Bible studies and nurturing friendships she held as dear as family. Barbara’s love knew no bounds, and her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her. 

Barbara’s family would like to express their gratitude to her caregiver, Peggy Johnson, and her niece, Pam Barnett Couch, for their loving care and support during her final days. 

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Holly Pond Funeral Home with funeral services to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Friends are invited to joint the family for a time of visitation, at the funeral home, from 1 p.m. until funeral services begin at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at Duck River Baptist Church. 

Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
