Virginia was a devout member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Crane Hill. She loved the Lord and she loved her church family. Virginia loved reading the Bible and was a devoted Christian, and it was always shown by the way she lived her life.
To her family Virginia was always know as “Ninn” because at a very young age her nieces were unable to pronounce Virginia, She was loved dearly by her family. Virginia loved to cook and she was very good at it! She always had a delicious table of food prepared for every occasion. Many holidays and celebrations were held at Virginia and Eldon’s beautiful country home on the hill.
Virginia started her career at King Edward Cigar Plant in Cullman and worked until the plant closed in 1982. She then attended Wallace State and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1984. She loved nursing and especially everyone she worked with on 3 East at CRMC in Cullman. After retirement, Virginia and Eldon would spend a lot of time running the roads and just seeing what they could get into. She always enjoyed helping Eldon with his vegetable gardens and for several years in the summer they would run a vegetable stand together. This was a fun time for them as they enjoyed talking and fellowshipping with everyone that came through.
Virginia is survived by her sister-in-law Joan Calvert; her brother-in-law Ellard Calvert; her nieces Beth Calvert, Wendy Knight, Pam Graves, and Karen Calvert; her nephews Allen Calvert and Barry Calvert; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Virginia’s caregiver Rebecca Reeves and the staff at Enhabit Hospice. They were all a tremendous blessing and helped the family through this difficult time.
