CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – Students from 10 area high schools who were chosen as Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens were recognized at the Dripping Springs Chapter of the DAR meeting on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.  They were selected by their schools’ senior faculty and judged according to recommendation letters and school and community activities, as well as volunteer activities.  The overall DAR Good Citizen was Lana Abigail Todd from Holly Pond High School.

Those who opted to compete in the DAR Good Citizens Essay contest were judged based on the topic of “How can service to my community lead to a better America.”  Three judges each scored the essay entries separately.  After the scores were averaged only one point separated the winner from the runner-up entries.  The Essay contest winner was Adriana Nicole Young from Cold Springs High School.  She was asked to read her essay to the group.
