Funeral services for William O’Neal Hogeland, 89, of Bremen, Alabama will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 14th at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Cullman City Cemetery. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Monday, January 13th at Hanceville Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mr. Hogeland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, entered eternal rest surrounded by his family on January 11, 2025, at his residence in Bremen, Alabama. He was born on May 29, 1935, to the late Hermon & Ethel McClendon-Hogland in Arkadelphia, Alabama. His faith, steadfast devotion to his Lord, and love for his family will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
William was a lifelong servant of his faith, dedicating many years as a deacon at Bremen Baptist Church. He was a pillar of his congregation, always willing to lend a hand, share a kind word, and lead with humility. As a proud member of the Masons, he upheld their values of integrity, charity, and community, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
A hardworking man, William spent much of his career in the livestock industry, where he earned the respect of his peers for his dedication and knowledge. Whether in the field or at home, he demonstrated the virtues of honesty, hard work, and kindness. Above all, William loved his family deeply and unconditionally. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will live on in their hearts.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ellen Graves-Hogeland; sons, Dennis & Susan Tolbert- Hogeland, Jerry & Teresa Anderton-Hogeland, Terry & Pat Fromhold-Hogeland, and Jeff & Ginger Waldrep-Hogeland; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Steve & Laurita Clemons-Hogland; brother-in-law, Richard Fendley; and a host of many nieces and nephews who will miss his wisdom and presence.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hogeland was preceded in death by his sisters, Mickie Fendley and Shirley & Gene Lamar.
