HANCEVILLE, Ala. – In the two weeks left before Christmas, the City of Hanceville will be delivering more than 700 Christmas cards to local seniors at nursing and assisting living homes.

City of Hanceville Administrative Assistant Kim Reburn said the City starts collecting Christmas cards in November and delivers them just before Christmas to spread holiday cheer.

“It’s a very busy time for Santa, but we’re hoping he can make a special trip to Hanceville next week,” Reburn said. “We’re still accepting cards until Friday, Dec. 13, so there’s still time to contribute. With over 700 cards already collected, each resident will receive at least three cards with thoughtful messages. It’s incredible to see our community come together to make this Christmas extra special for our seniors.”

Reburn said she is incredibly grateful for everyone’s generosity in donating Christmas cards.

“It’s a simple act that brings immense joy to our residents,” Reburn said. “Many of them are without family nearby and rely on their caretakers for support. This is a wonderful way to spread the spirit of Christmas and show them they’re not alone. Seeing the smiles on their faces as they open the cards is such a blessing to me.”

For more information, or to donate Christmas cards, contact the City of Hanceville at 256-352-9830.
