CULLMAN, Ala. – There is a variety of Artisan Workshops at the Cullman Christkindlmarkt. Among them is the Ironbendi Master Blacksmith booth, where you can learn the art of iron bending and take your design home. Iron crafted art from a master blacksmith is also sold at the booth.
Ukrainian blacksmith artist Artem Marshak, who runs the booth, said, “In the masterclass we create mostly horseshoes. With horseshoes you can learn every part of blacksmithing on a basic level. You can see how to cut the metal, how to forge the metal, how to anneal it and how to shape it when you anneal it. After the masterclass you can take home the horseshoe. The horseshoe is a good luck charm as a keepsake for life. My masterclass teaches an important skill that you cherish throughout life.”
The masterclass costs $50 at the booth. Participants wear protective attire and the artist guides you through the process.
