CULLMAN, Ala. – The second annual Festival of Trees will be presented by the City of Cullman Tree Commission during an invite-only event on Dec. 5. The display will be open to the public Dec. 6-Jan. 2, at the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center.

Trees on display were decorated by local schools and the Cullman County Public Library. During the Dec. 5 private event, trees will be judged by the Tree Commission and local artist and Master Gardner Ben Johnson. Awards for “Best Traditional Tree” and “Santa’s Choice” will be presented.

Tree Commission Chairman Barry Slatton explained, “We did this (festival) because we want the children to realize the value of the trees, what they mean to us and the many functions that they have – the value that they have to our economy, our environment and the cultural traditions in this city.”

Slatton continued, “The sponsors include the Rotary Club of Cullman and Cullman Savings Bank. Without them there would not be a festival. We thank them for that. We also thank the Aquatic Center and Sports and Rec Department for allowing us to share this with the community.”

The festival display is free to enjoy. The Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center is located at 1636 Field of Miracles Dr. SW, in Cullman.
