Betty Rae Wren departed peacefully from this world to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 1 from her home in Clanton, Alabama with family at her side. During her long and fruitful life, Betty was a joyful person who loved the Lord Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends. She was known as someone who always greeted you with a bright smile and extended her friendship generously. Her delicious biscuits, dumplings, pineapple upside down cake, coconut cake and peanut butter cake were legendary. Her special cakes and dishes were highly coveted through the years as so many who knew her can attest.
Betty worked her entire adult life in the medical arena utilizing Her warm personality and her gift of gab. For 25 years she was the office manager for Dr. Vijay Caplash where she became more than an employee but a dear friend of the Caplash family. In her retirement, she served as a Pink Lady at St. Vincent’s East in Trussville, AL. Betty also served the Lord in many churches through the years teaching Bible classes of all ages and helping in any capacity. Upon her passing, she was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Jemison, Alabama where she loved her Women’s Sunday School Class and weekly Ladies Bible study as well as her entire church family.
She loved studying the Word of God and would spend hours each day reading her Bible or listening and watching inspirational podcasts or sermons. She also enjoyed flowers of all kinds but was especially passionate about her roses. Her delight was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her sweet dog BB who was a special companion for the past 7 years of her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Floy and Bertha Parker, her husband, Bobby Wren and her grandson, Jason Brasher.
She leaves behind her three children, Anita Cornelius (Karl) Trussville, AL, Kenneth Wren (Connie) Clanton, Alabama and Belinda Boyett (Rudy)Hahira, Georgia. Six Grandchildren, Jeff Cornelius (Carol) Irondale, AL, Alan Cornelius, Maumee, OH, Katie Hayes (Torey) Clanton, AL, Jonathan Brasher (Meredith) Hahira, GA and Michael Boyett (Sandi) Las Vegas, NV. Six Great Grandchildren, Luke, Kaylee, Emily, Parker, Hannah and Peter. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Noni Woodard, Springfield, TN and Myra Lee (Jerry) Cullman, AL as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family along with a host of friends young and old, near and far.
Funeral Service will be held at Moss Funeral Home, Cullman, Alabama.
Visitation: Wednesday, December 4th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Funeral: Thursday, December 5th at 1 p.m.
