CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday welcomed a crowd of Cullman Police Department officers and families as Chief Joey Duncan and Assistant Chief Brandon Patterson joined the council’s Public Safety Committee Chairman Brad Smith to announce two promotions and a new hire.
Administrator Daniel Hunt, a 22-year CPD veteran, and investigator Intae Suh, with 14 years on the force, were promoted to the rank of major. Duncan then introduced the department’s new patrol major, John Mahler. Mahler served with the CPD as a jailer for a short time before a 20-year career as an Alabama State Trooper.
The council’s only other order of business was the approval of a resolution to award a bid for a crew cab truck to Bill Smith Buick GMC, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $46,697.60.
The Cullman City Council meets next on Monday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Cullman City Hall auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
