Sara Alice Miller Melson peacefully passed from this life on November 23, 2024 at 7:55 a.m. surrounded by her loving family and crossed Jordan to obtain that heavenly home promised to all those who are faithful.

A memorial service will be held at Moss Service Funeral home in Cullman, AL on Wednesday November 27 at 2pm with visitation from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. to allow family and friends to honor her memory.

If you knew Sara very well at all you knew that she was a woman like Dorcas spoken of in Acts 9:36. Many of you were recipients of her famous angel food cakes or in her later years when she was unable to stand in the kitchen, one of her handmade cards offering her sympathy in times of loss or a birthday wish or a get well soon message or just words of encouragement and exhortation.

Sis Melson is survived by her daughter’s Kathy (Dennis) Oliver, Gaye (Jeff) Hamilton, Laura (Jeffery) Warnke sister Reba Slayton, brother Jon (Linda) Miller, 11 grandchildren Sarah (Nathan)Lee, Wes (Laura) Oliver, Kevin Oliver, Nathan (Savannah)Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, Anthony Hamilton, Zachary (Catherine) Hamilton, Brian Melson, Jessica (Tyler) Vaughn, and Kyler (Katie) Melson, and Brinlee Warnke, 10 great grandchildren Spencer Lee, Reagan Lee, Raley Oliver, Corban Oliver, Helen Hamilton, Adam Hamilton, Cara Hamilton, Felicity Hamilton, Theo Hamilton and Hollis Hamilton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thanks to Aimee Counts, Sara’s dedicated caregiver, friend, fierce domino opponent, and talented card maker for the last year. Sara was preceded in death by her husband Dee Ford Melson, son Joel Keith Melson, and her parents Emmett Lee and Rebecca Lydia Miller, sisters Alma Albright, Clovis Puckett, and Hilda Cochran, brothers Lee Miller, and Ralph Miller.
