HOLLY POND, Ala. – Members of the Holly Pond Senior Center had a special guest for brunch on Monday, Nov. 25, when ABC 33/40 Chief Meteorologist James Spann stopped by to enjoy Thanksgiving treats and share a message.

Annette Munger and Perry Tucker from R.E. Garrison, which provided the brunch for the seniors, spoke about the special relationship the company has with Holly Pond’s seniors.

“We met them through the (Cullman County) Commission on Aging when we started sponsoring them. They have just become our special people,” said Munger.

Added Tucker, “We really enjoy getting to come out here. They are a very lively and great bunch of people. They are very encouraging, just as Mr. Spann talked about. This bunch really lives that out. They are very encouraging to everyone.”

The seniors ate brunch as they listened to Spann speak about giving during the holidays.

“We are here to help other people. Typically, it’s just a few people – one or two within your means. It has nothing to do with money or resources. It has to do with your heart and your willingness to give your time,” said Spann. “As we get into Thanksgiving week y’all look for someone you can help this week.”

The seniors enjoyed a time of fellowship during the brunch, and many got their pictures made with Spann.
