CULLMAN, Ala. – The holiday season kicks off in spectacular style Thursday, Nov. 21, with the grand opening of the Cullman Christkindlmarkt at 11 a.m.
This beloved event, inspired by the traditional Christmas markets of Germany, has grown to become one of the premier holiday attractions in the Southeast. Last year, over 200,000 visitors from more than 40 states joined the festivities, and this year promises to be even bigger and better as the market has doubled in size and attractions.
Event highlights:
- German Christmas pyramid lighting: Thursday, Nove. 21, at 6 p.m., watch the official lighting of the towering Weihnachtspyramide, the largest in North America
- Christmas tree lighting production: Friday, Nov. 22, following the Christmas Parade at 6 p.m., Cullman will host the largest Christmas tree lighting production in the South — a breathtaking display of lights, music and holiday magic
- The South’s largest outdoor ice rink: Enjoy skating at Alabama’s largest outdoor ice rink, measuring an impressive 6,400 square feet
- The state’s largest Ferris wheel: Experience breathtaking views of the Christkindlmarkt from Alabama’s tallest Ferris wheel, an attraction not to be missed
- Over 60 vendors: Shop for unique gifts, delicious foods and one-of-a-kind holiday treasures from an incredible array of vendors
- Live entertainment daily: Enjoy performances throughout the festival, including street performers, German bands, choirs, theater groups, dancers and more
