CULLMAN, Ala. – Van’s Sporting Goods in Cullman on Friday, Nov. 15, celebrated the grand opening of its Leupold Optics “Shop in Shop.” Van’s is the first independent retailer in the country to host a Leupold “Shop in Shop.”
Leupold & Stevens President and CEO Bruce Pettet traveled all the way from Oregon for the event in Cullman.
“We’re here at Van’s Sporting Goods, one of our best specialty dealers in the country. We’ve got a great partnership, and this is the first ‘Shop in Shop’ store that we’ve done, and we are so happy to do it right here in Cullman. These guys have been great to us; it’s been a great partnership. Just so happy to be here,” Pettet said.
The first 100 people through the door were entered for a chance to win over $3,500 worth of Leupold products.
Van’s Sporting Goods Manger Joey King explained, “Leupold Shop sets all the products they have up in the shop displayed so people can come in and look at it. We actually mount the scopes on artificial guns where they can pick them up and look at them and we just go through the products with them. Today we have the professionals here that actually build the product… They’re a lot more advanced than we are in technology, so they cover the products with them and that’s essentially what we do. Selling Leupold scopes in the shop will help develop the business for Van’s Sporting Goods and also help our relationship with Leupold.”
Over 100 people came in for the event, and a winner was picked for the free gun with the Leupold scope. The winner received a $3,500 value Bergara Ridge Carbon 6.5 Creedmoor plus a Leupold VX-6HD 3-18×50 scope. The second winner received a Browning X Bolt rifle with a VX-Freedom scope.
