DOUBLE SPRINGS, Ala. – Cold Springs traveled to Winston County for a round one matchup Friday night and the Yellow Jackets scored early and often on their way to a 56-34 win over the Eagles.
Winston County jumped out to a 20-0 lead midway through the first quarter, but Cold Springs got on the board when a touchdown pass to Cason Alexander made it a 20-8 game. The Yellow Jackets continued to create separation, stretching their lead to 50-8 by the halftime break.
A Tycen Kilgo touchdown trimmed the lead to 50-14 early in the third quarter and Matt Williams punched one into the end zone to make it a 50-22 game later in the period. The Eagles got some more points on the board in the final frame with touchdowns by Ethan Day and Cooper Johnson but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early Winston County lead and Cold Springs’ season came to an end with a 56-34 loss to the Yellow Jackets.
