CULLMAN, Ala. – The 22nd annual Winter Wonderland Christmas Light Display at Sportsman Lake Park will open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Cullman County Parks and Recreation Marketing Director Sara Morgan said there will be 1.7 million lights on display this year.
“Our staff started putting up lights the week after Labor Day weekend, and they will work all the way up until opening night Nov. 16,” Morgan said. “We have several new trees, displays and designs this year.”
Event dates are Nov. 16-17, Nov. 20-24, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, Dec. 4-8, Dec. 11-23 and Dec. 26-29 (drive-through only). Hours are 5-9 p.m.
“We will have our Christmas train, photos with Santa available, concession stand goodies and toys, our snow machine and our new Run, Run Rudolph run/walk before opening day,” Morgan said. “We will have a new event the day before opening night – (the) Run, Run Rudolph run; it is a fun run/walk. This is the first time we will offer the public to come walk our park at night to view the lights and something you don’t want to miss. We will have shirts and hot cocoa for sale and we will also be having an ugly Christmas sweater/costume contest as well! It’s one night only and also pet and stroller friendly.”
Morgan said there will be horse and carriage rides on selected nights with more information to come soon.
“We have many nativity scenes, Santa operating many machines, elves getting into mischief and Santa also has ventured into farm life with a few cows,” she said. “We can’t wait to see everyone this year and we hope you enjoy it.”
The cost to enter is $10 per vehicle.
