VINA, Ala. – After cruising past Cherokee at home last week, the Tigers were back on the road Friday night for a region matchup at Vina. Meek jumped out to a big lead in the first half and cruised through the second half on its way to a 54-14 win over the Red Devils.

A 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Evan McCay to Jaxon Brown, followed by a two-point conversion run by Jordan Phillips, gave the Tigers an early, 8-0 lead. A touchdown and two-point conversion run by Hunter Wyatt made it 16-0 later in the first quarter. Wyatt’s second touchdown run of the night and a two-point pass from McCay to Conner Lane stretched the lead to 24-0 with four minutes to play in the first. At the end of the first quarter, Phillips ran one into the end zone for a touchdown and a two-point conversion to put Meek in front 32-0 at the start of the second.

A pair of Vina touchdowns cut the lead to 32-14 midway through the second quarter, but a 4-yard touchdown run from Phillips stopped the scoring run and kept the Tigers ahead 38-14. After Phillips came up with an interception on the defensive side of the ball, McCay found him through the air for an 11-yard touchdown a few plays later to give Meek a 46-14 lead at halftime.

A 35-yard touchdown run by Lane made it a 52-14 game midway through the third quarter and McCay found Lane in the end zone for the two-point conversion to put the Tigers in front 54-14. Neither team was able to find the end zone again the rest of the way and Meek returned home with a 54-14 win over the Red Devils.

The Tigers will finish their regular season at home next week against Carbon Hill.
