FYFFE, Ala. – After collecting a 44-0 road win at Asbury last week, the Broncos had a tougher challenge on their hands this week when they traveled to Fyffe. The Red Devils are a perennial 2A power and they showed why Friday night, racing past the Broncos on their way to a 61-18 win.
A 47-yard touchdown run by Sawyer Olinger gave Holly Pond a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter, but it didn’t take long for Fyffe to respond. The Red Devils put 28 unanswered points on the board throughout the remainder of the first quarter and took a 28-6 lead into the second. Fyffe stretched its lead to 41-6 before heading to the locker room at halftime.
Olinger scored two more touchdowns in the second half to get some points on the board for Holly Pond, but the Broncos were unable to keep pace with the Red Devils and returned home with a 61-18 region loss to Fyffe.
Holly Pond falls to 3-5 with the loss and will be back home next week for another region game against Collinsville.
