ALBERTVILLE, Ala. – The Holly Pond Broncos hit the road for a region game at Asbury Friday night and they returned home with a dominant, 44-0 win over the Rams.

The Broncos found the end zone one their first play of the game when Sawyer Olinger broke free for a 56-yard touchdown run. Olinger connected with Brody Howard through the air to pick up the two-point conversion and give Holly Pond an early, 8-0 lead. It didn’t take long for the Broncos to add to their lead as Boston Gibbs took a handoff 26 yards for a touchdown on their second offensive play of the night and Olinger found Cade Allbright in the end zone for the two-point conversion to make it a 16-0 game.

The next Holly Pond score came on defense when Olinger picked off an Asbury pass and returned it all the way for a touchdown. Olinger hit Zayne Faulkner in the end zone for the two-point conversion and extended the lead to 22-0 midway through the first quarter. Gibbs broke a 46-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter to make it 30-0 and Faulkner punched in the two-point conversion to put the Broncos in front 32-0 with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter.

Olinger scored on a 30-yard early in the second quarter to give Holly Pond a commanding, 38-0 lead going into the locker room at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, the final touchdown of the night came on an 80-yard run from Faulkner that wrapped up an impressive, 44-0 win for the Broncos.

Holly Pond improves to 3-4 with the win and will be back on the road next week to take on Fyffe.
