CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman First United Methodist Church (FUMC) is set to celebrate a significant milestone in its history with a Centennial Sanctuary Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. The event commemorates 100 years since the church began holding services in its current sanctuary.

Originally chartered in 1881, the church moved into the present sanctuary in the fall of 1924. For a century, it has served as a place of worship and community gathering, and church leaders believe this anniversary is an occasion worth celebrating.

The service will feature honored guests from the church’s past, with Rev. Mitchell Williams, a retired elder and former senior pastor at Cullman FUMC, and Rev. Jeff Moore, former youth director at the church and current family pastor at Epworth UMC in Huntsville, leading worship during the celebration. The service will also include musical performances by local vocalist Paige Clabo.

Following the service, attendees are invited to enjoy a fellowship meal provided by the congregation and sponsored by the United Methodist Women.

Cullman FUMC hopes this centennial celebration will not only be a reflection on its history, but also an opportunity for those who have been part of its journey to reconnect with the church.

“In the spirit of a homecoming, we hope you will reach out to friends and family, inviting them to help us honor our past as we look forward to a bright future,” stated the announcement article shared with the church’s congregation.

“Who knows, some may have wandered away from our church but would love to come home, and this homecoming celebration could be the first step. Remember our vision for ministry, we are a genuinely welcoming community where faith fuels positive change. Please plan to join us for this great day in the life of our church,” the statement continued.
