Cullman’s OktoFURfest Oct. 5
CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman’s Oktoberfest will host a special event for dog lovers during this year’s festivities – OktoFURfest. The event will take place on Oct. 5, starting at 11 a.m., at the brand-new Tito’s Wüffenplatz, a designated dog-friendly area at Oktoberfest.
OktoFURfest will feature a variety of fun, pet-centered activities, including Wiener Dog Races, a costume contest and a parade. The Wiener Dog races will include six categories based on the dogs’ ages and conditions: Lil’ Smokies (0-1 year), Frankfurters (1-2 years), Bratwursts (3-4 years), Schnitzels (5-7 years), Knockwursts (8+ years) and Braunschweigers (special needs). Each division will have first-, second and third-place winners, with medals awarded to the top dogs. The division winners will compete in a final race to determine “The Fastest Wiener,” with the winner receiving a trophy.
In addition to the races, the costume contest is open to any pet dressed in costume. OktoFURfest will conclude with a parade for all pets in attendance.
All dogs must be kept on a leash when not racing, and owners will receive check-in information via text the week of the event. A registration fee of $5 is required for entry.
