ALDOT will repair the Alabama Highway 91 bridge over Dorsey Creek starting Friday, Oct. 4, 2024. (ALDOT)

The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to close SR-91 just south of Arkadelphia in Cullman County for 10 days for a bridge repair.

SR-91 in the immediate area of the bridge at Dorsey Creek will be completely closed to traffic beginning about 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, and will remain closed for the duration of the repair. Motorists should also expect intermittent single-lane closures Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, leading up to the full closure

ALDOT’s Statewide Bridge Crew will work every day weather permits, including weekends, to replace a steel cap — a beam that disperses load to the bridge piles.

Message boards at key intersections will advise motorists of the detour to SR-69. Commercial vehicles must use the detour route. Local traffic may use other alternate routes.

The general area of the planned bridge closure is highlighted in dark green.

ALDOT anticipates completing the work and reopening SR-91 on Monday, Oct. 14.
