CULLMAN, Ala. – The Guy Hunt Library will host a special event featuring local author Vada Hightower on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 10:30 a.m. Hightower, known for her deeply personal and faith-driven storytelling, will present her latest novel, “Beneath the Surface,” which explores themes of hope, perseverance and overcoming mental struggles such as depression and anxiety.

Raised in a small Southern Baptist church and with a background in education, Hightower has long used writing as an emotional outlet, particularly during her personal battles with mental health. Her newest book, “Beneath the Surface,” speaks to adults of all ages who may be facing their own challenges.

“The book is intended to grab the attention of adults, young and old, who may feel like they are at the end of their rope, mentally. Devastation happens to all of us, and throughout the story, the characters somehow make it through their circumstances and continue living,” Hightower shared.

“The realness of life’s struggles, how the characters survive and push through the valleys, and continue living and loving others along the way is an enormous takeaway from the book. God’s love is the intricate part of the storyline I want readers to grasp and carry over their own lives. Making God a constant companion, moment by moment, was ultimately how I survived my situation of dire need,” Hightower concluded.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the author, hear about her journey and purchase signed copies of her novel at the event.
