Cullman County Tourism Bureau announces Harmony Heard as new director of tourism

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Tourism Bureau this week announced that Harmony Heard has been appointed the new director of tourism. Heard will officially begin her role on Nov. 4,2024.

Heard brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the position, the Bureau said. Her leadership will be instrumental in continuing the growth and promotion of Cullman County as a premier destination for visitors and residents alike.

As director of tourism, Harmony will focus on promoting the unique attractions, events, and cultural experiences that Cullman County offers.

“Harmony Heard, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, has been a key leader in the hospitality and tourism industry for many years. Most recently, she served as the Director of Sales at Visit South Padre Island, where her team broke multiple records for growth. Prior to that, she was the award winning Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing for the Westin Huntsville/Element Huntsville. Harmony served as President of the Huntsville/Madison County Hospitality Association where she led the entire hospitality community with great passion for the industry. She has served as Emissary for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce having been named the 2018 Lead Ambassador for the Chamber. She served as Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau and Chairwoman of the Board for The Cornerstone Initiative. Throughout her career, she has earned numerous awards for sales, marketing, hospitality, and community service including twice receiving the Huntsville/Madison County Hospitality Association Red Ribbon, the highest local honor in the industry.

Harmony earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Athens State University, graduating with honors. Her diverse background in both the accounting and legal fields has established a strong foundation for success in sales and marketing. Harmony loves to serve the community and has given back by serving multiple non-profits and organizations that seek to improve the quality of life of others. Putting people first is her passion and making a positive difference in their life is her goal. She loves to volunteer regularly and always seeks to give back to the community. She is the mother of three beautiful children, Drayke, who is active duty in the US Army, Kayla, mother of her grandchildren and Kayden, towering at 6’8”, he is her baseball-loving gentle giant. Promoted from “Mom” to “Gigi”, she cherishes her role as grandmother to Nevaeh, Bentley, and Marcus, who bring endless joy to her life.”
