Memorial service for James Thomas Hays, age 79, of Cullman is Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 5 p.m. at Cullman Funeral Home chapel. Officiating the service will be Rev. Steve Rodgers. Visitation 3 – 5 p.m. at the chapel.

Mr. Hays was born August 13, 1945, to Edward Hays and Florene Harris Hays. He passed from this life Friday, September 13, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Edwin Hays.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Graves Hays, together 26 years; sons, Shane Bailey (Julie), Josha Bailey (Jamie); daughters, Clarissa Bailey (Eddie), Jodie Cruz (Adan), Jackie Cruz (Efrain); brother, Bill Hays (Kristie); grandchildren, Austin Bailey (Hannah), Mackenzy Nix, Sadie Bailey, Abby, Lilly, Ashanti George, Ariiannah Parker, Amiiyah Parkes, Nicholas Bailey, Malachi Bailey, Noah Bailey, Addie Bailey, Malaysia Bailey, Robin Hood, Katana Hood, Miguel Cruz, Jonathan Cruz, Nayehtzy Acosta, Auburn Weaver, Alex Cruz, Omar Cruz; two great-grandchildren, Juniper Bailey, and Miles; nephews, Chris Hays (Darlene), Larry Hays, Tyler Hays.
James is remembered by family as loving God above everything. He was a member of Charis Community Church and attended regularly until Covid. He loved nature and enjoyed going for long walks every chance he could. He loved his family and adored his grandbabies. In his free time, he would listen to gospel music, watch westerns and the news, and scroll through Facebook. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
