ARDMORE, Ala. – After dismantling West Point in their region opener last week, the Fairview Aggies hit the road Friday night for another regional battle against Ardmore. The Aggies built a 14-0 lead in the first half and maintained control of the game in the second half to secure a 28-6 win over the Tigers.
An 86-yard touchdown run by Jake Harper put Fairview in front 7-0 early in the first quarter. Just before halftime, Harper’s second touchdown run, this time from 60 yards out, stretched the lead to 14-0 in the final seconds of the second quarter. Both teams turned the ball over multiple times in the opening half, but the Aggie defense was able to keep Ardmore off the board.
Harper’s third touchdown of the night was a 24-yard scoring run that extended Fairview’s lead to 21-0 in the third quarter but the Tigers were finally able to get on the board early in the fourth to trim the lead to 21-6. The Aggies got the points back later in the game when Carson Jones scored on a 4-yard run midway through the fourth quarter and wrapped up a 28-6 region win for Fairview.
Harper racked up 309 yards and three touchdowns in the win on just 15 carries. Jones added another 126 and a touchdown on the ground.
The Aggies will be back on the road next week for another region game at Lawrence County.
