FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Mayor Keith Henry called the Fairview Town Council’s monthly meeting to order on Monday, when the council welcomed Clint Hayes of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department. Hayes shared news about one of the department’s latest projects.

Hayes stated that over 70 fire hydrants in the community have been tested and painted to ensure proper function and safety. He said the project was fully funded by the fire department to support and equip the community in the event of an emergency.

Stephine Sprouse was the next speaker of the night. Sprouse proposed the addition of a Little Free Library to the Fairview community. The addition of this resource would provide free reading materials for both children and adults. Sprouse, an educator by trade and current employee of Branch Books, offered to set up and maintain the Little Free Library for the town. The council approved the installation pending funding and attorney approval.

Residents interested in donated or helping out with the library can contact Sprouse at  sprousehouse777@gmail.com. Sprouse will also be fundraising by selling leather bookmarks at the Cullman location of Branch Books and at a booth at Haynes Market in Fairview.

The next Fairview Town Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2024, at Fairview Town Hall, located at 7525 Alabama Highway 69.
