CULLMAN, Ala. – Teachers at public or private K-12 schools served by Cullman Power Board can apply for a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) STEM grant of up to $5,000 to fund science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) projects in their classrooms. The deadline for the application is approaching fast and will remain open until September 15.
The TVA STEM Classroom Grant Program, in partnership with Bicentennial Volunteers Incorporated (BVI), aims to fund innovative and creative STEM learning projects across the Tennessee Valley, whether at a classroom level or school level, to advance STEM initiatives in the classroom and to further develop the future STEM talent for the TVA and its customers.
“Applications should highlight STEM projects that are unique, innovative, and creative ideas that incorporate design thinking and promote 21st-century skills. Points are awarded for projects that enhance college and career readiness and that are both collaborative and interdisciplinary across subjects and/or grades,” shared TVA from its website.
Educators are encouraged to submit projects that promote collaboration across subjects, involve community partners and expose students to real-world careers.
Project proposals should align with TVA’s priority areas: Environment, Energy, Economic and Career Development or Community Problem Solving. Grants can be requested in various amounts, from $1,000 to $5,000.
