BREMEN, Ala. – After handling Curry on the road last week, the Cold Springs Eagles returned home to host their region opener against Susan Moore Friday night. Cold Springs led 14-12 at halftime but the Bulldogs outscored them 22-6 in the second half to pull away and claim a 34-20 win.

Trailing 6-0 in the first quarter, Cold Springs quarterback Ethan Day ran one into the endzone from 10 yards out to tie the game at 6 and Matt Williams punched in the two-point conversion to give the Eagles an 8-6 lead with less than a minute to play in the opening period. Susan Moore responded with another touchdown on the ensuing possession, but Cold Springs was able to move back in front when Williams dove into the end zone and made it a 14-12 game going into the locker room at halftime.

The Bulldogs pulled ahead 18-14 with just under four minutes remaining in the third quarter and they held onto that lead going into the start of the fourth. Williams’ second touchdown of the night came early in the fourth quarter and gave the Eagles a 20-18 lead, but Susan Moore found the end zone two more times in the final 10 minutes of the game to wrap up a 34-20 win over Cold Springs.

The Eagles will be back on the road next week to face Cleveland.
