Funeral services for Glennis Kilgo, 68, of Hanceville will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7th, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Hopewell Cemetery.

Mrs. Kilgo was born December 28, 1955, in Okeechobee, Florida.  She passed away September 2, 2024, in Hanceville, Alabama. Though Glennis has departed from this world, the joy, laughter, and love she brought to all who knew her will forever remain in our hearts.

Glennis was a person who never took life too seriously, always finding the humor in every situation. Her contagious laugh was a beacon of joy, lighting up any room she entered. Whether she was sharing a story, telling a joke, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, Glennis had an extraordinary ability to make everyone around her feel happy and at ease. Home was where Glennis found true contentment. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, finding peace and happiness surrounded by family. Her love for home was only rivaled by her passion for playing softball. On the field, Glennis was not just a teammate but a source of encouragement and laughter, making the game enjoyable for everyone involved. Family was the cornerstone of Glennis’ life. She loved deeply and unconditionally, always putting her loved ones first. Glennis was a devoted mother, and a cherished friend. Her presence brought warmth, comfort, and a sense of belonging to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. While we mourn the loss of Glennis, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived—a life filled with laughter, love, and a spirit that never faded. Her memory will live on in the stories we share, the laughter we echo, and the love we continue to feel.

Mrs. Kilgo was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Alexis York “Lexi”, and her parents, Nobel and Ozella Smothers.

Mrs. Kilgo is survived by her children, Valerie Hitt (Charles Sandefur), Wesley Kilgo (Amanada); grandchildren, Ashlyn Caesar (Gavin), Caleb Kilgo, Tanner Hitt, Kason Hitt; great granddaughter, Journey; siblings, Ray Smothers, Karen Bennefield, Carolyn Curl; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Though Glennis is no longer with us, the joy and laughter she brought into our lives will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
