SPRINGVILLE, Ala. – After hosting a fall jamboree against Pisgah last week, the Fairview Aggies hit the road Friday night to kick off their regular season against Springville. The Aggies jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the opening quarter, the Tigers were never able to overcome the early deficit and Fairview returned home with a 41-17 win and a 1-0 start to the season.

Facing a fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line, Jake Harper took a handoff straight up the middle and powered his way into the endzone to give the Aggies a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter. It didn’t take long for Fairview to add it to its lead. With about five minutes remaining in the first, Harper broke free for another touchdown run, this time from 18 yards out, to put six more points on the board. Kolt Redding’s extra point attempt split the uprights, and the Aggies took a 13-0 lead.

Springville was able to find the end zone on the ensuing possession and cut the lead to 13-7 but Fairview got those points back early in the second quarter when Carson Jones ran one into the endzone from 6 yards out, making it a 20-7 game. The Aggies continued to add to their lead in the first half. Jones scored his second touchdown of the night on an option pitch from Redding down around the 3-yard line, giving Fairview a 27-7 lead midway through the second quarter.

The Aggies were able to get on the board one more time before the first half expired. Redding weaved through defenders and jogged into the end zone from 16 yards out to make it a 34-7 game with just over two minutes remaining in the second quarter, Fairview took a commanding, 27-point lead over the Tigers. Springville hit a field goal in the final seconds of the first half to trim the lead to 34-10 at the halftime break.

The Aggies found the end zone one more time in the third quarter when Redding found Zayden Cruce 24 yards downfield for a touchdown to put Fairview in front 41-10 midway through the third. The Tigers were able to add one more score in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Aggie lead and Fairview got off to a 1-0 start with a 41-17 win over Springville.

Fairview will return home to host a regional battle with West Point next week.
