Brown pleads guilty in Cullman parking deck killing

CULLMAN, Ala. – An Empire man this week entered a blind plea of guilty to the murder of Roberto Juarez Ramos, 23, of Blountsville.

Christopher Dean Eugene Brown, now 22, shot and killed Ramos on May 21, 2023, at the Cullman City Parking Deck.

According to the Cullman Police Department at the time, officers responded to a call about a shooting at approximately 2:40 a.m. and located Ramos, dead at the scene.

In the hours following the murder, Cullman Police Chief David Nassetta said there were eight to 10 witnesses at the parking deck who were able to positively identify Brown as the shooter. He said the witnesses cooperated with the police and helped locate Brown.

On Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, the CPD posted to its Facebook page:

“On August 26, 2024, Christopher Brown entered a blind plea of guilty to the murder of Roberto Ramos.

“The Cullman Police Department extends its deep appreciation to the Patrol Officers, Investigators, and the District Attorney’s Office for their diligent efforts on this case.

“We also wish to recognize the outstanding work of the lead investigator, Sgt. Chris Thomason, whose dedication, and tireless hours were crucial to the investigation and trial preparation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Roberto Ramos during this difficult time.”
