ARLEY, Ala. – After dropping their season opener at Lynn last week, the Tigers of Meek were back home at Tiger Stadium Friday night to host their rivals from Winston County High School. Unfortunately for the home side of the stadium, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first half and held off Meek in the second half to return home with a 36-6 win.
The Tigers trailed 7-0 at the end of the first quarter but Winston County was able to score a pair of touchdowns and extend its lead to 20-0 midway through the second. Meek found the endzone just before halftime to cut the lead to 20-6 at the break but the Tigers weren’t able to climb back any closer than that.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Yellow Jackets scored 16 unanswered points in the fourth to pull away with a 36-6 win.
Meek will be back on the road next week for a regional matchup at Hackleburg.
