Paula Suzanne (Xan) Moody stepped into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 26, 2024.
Xan was a loving and faithful wife to Pat for over 53 years. She was an incredible mother to three children: McGee, Meredith, and Josh; and an amazing Mimi to thirteen grandchildren (9 granddaughters, 3 grandsons and one bonus grandson in law).
Xan was born on February 16, 1949 in Jasper, Alabama. She graduated from Walker High School and went on to attend Auburn University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After college, Xan lived in Atlanta for a time (where she met her husband) while working as a Delta flight attendant, before eventually becoming a school teacher. For the better part of the next three decades, Xan would pour her life into future generations of students of all ages. Through this career field, she would positively impact hundreds, if not thousands, of lives.
However, her love of teaching paled in comparison to the love she had for her family. She loved her husband deeply. She was always her children and grandchildren’s biggest fans. It wasn’t uncommon to see her at multiple sporting events, plays, musicals, or dance recitals all in the same weekend, just so she could be with and support her children and grandchildren. She loved her family, and they loved her, more than words can describe.
Xan is preceded in death by her father, Paul Odom, and her mother Ruth Studdard Odom. She is survived by her sister, Deb Alexander; her husband, Pat Moody; her children, McGee Moody and wife Monica, Meredith Farrell, and Josh Moody, and wife Kim; and her grandchildren, Sydney Foster and husband Cody, Olivia Moody, Lily Kate Moody, Whitney Moody, Ella Moody, Avery Moody, Addison Moody, Steven Moody, Mark Moody, Gaines Moody, Anna Farrell, and Molly Farrell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Chapel at Stone Bridge Farms (291 County Road 717, Cullman, AL) on Sunday, September 8 at 3 p.m.
