Obituary: Billy Fagan Turner

Billy Fagan Turner age 79, of Hanceville, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024.  

Billy was baptized at a young age at Fowler Springs Baptist Church. He attended J.B. Pennington High School in Blountsville before he became an accomplished machinist. Billy’s career included working for Thomas Foundry and ACIPCO before he retired as a nuclear steam turbine specialist from General Electric.  

Billy enjoyed lake life on Logan Martin Lake and loved spending time with his family. His Saturdays were filled with watching his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide play football.  

Billy is preceded in death by his parents Howard Early and Omie Woodard Turner; siblings: Howard Turner Jr., L.J. Turner, Helen Turner Senn, and Johnny Frank Turner; sons: Billy Howard Turner and Alan Wayne Turner; granddaughter Renae Turner McGill; and his first wife, Linda Baker Turner. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Turner; daughters: Cindy Turner Huie (Ron) and Wendy Turner Blackwood (Brett); grandchildren: John Blackwood, Samuel Blackwood, Anna Hales (John-Mark), Marcus Turner (Janeisha), and Cameron Huie (Laura Joy); great grandchildren: Collin Turner and Abigail Hales; sister, Abbie Turner Wiersma; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. 

 The celebration of Billy’s life will be Friday, August 30, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Hanceville, Alabama. His family will receive friends beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
