Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick on Wednesday night confirmed that Doug Cordes, 48, of Vinemont, passed away following a medical emergency while driving a forklift at Rusken Packaging.
Kilpatrick stated Cordes did fall from the forklift, but the fall was due to a medical emergency. He stated as of now the cause of death is listed as a heart attack.
City of Cullman Public Safety Director Brian Bradberry shared, “Please keep the family and everyone involved in your thoughts and prayers.”

CULLMAN, Ala. – One person died at Rusken Packaging early Wednesday evening.
Just before 5, calls went out to dispatch regarding a possible medical emergency at the facility, located at 64 Walnut St. NW, in the city of Cullman.
Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick confirmed to The Tribune the call was placed at 4:59 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Kilpatrick said the original 911 call stated, “a forklift driver had hit (sic) head and passed out.”
Once on scene, paramedics worked on the unnamed driver until the person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Kilpatrick stated that once family has been notified, he will provide the name and age of the individual.
Rusken Packaging has, according to its website, locations throughout the United States – 19 facilities in 10 states. It is headquartered in Cullman.
